How this calculator works
We model a standard amortizing installment loan: interest accrues on the declining balance, and each equal payment covers interest first, then principal. The "36% cap" and "28% PAL" bars run the same amount and term at those lower rates, so the gap is the pure extra cost of the tribal APR. This is an estimate — your agreement may front-load interest or add origination and NSF fees, which make the real cost higher. Always read the APR box in your own loan agreement.
