Regulation E / EFTA
The federal rule that gives you the right to revoke automatic debits and reverse unauthorized ones.
What "regulation e / efta" means
The Electronic Fund Transfer Act and its Regulation E govern electronic payments from your account. They give you the right to revoke a lender's authorization for recurring ACH debits, and they require your bank to investigate and re-credit unauthorized electronic withdrawals you report in time — generally within 60 days of the statement.
A lender also cannot make automatic repayment a condition of the loan. Together these rules are the legal backbone of shutting off a tribal lender's access to your paycheck.
