Stone Lake Lending Watchlist
Lac du Flambeau Band (Naanan LLC)
If you borrowed from Stone Lake, read this. The Fitzgerald settlement lists "Naanan d/b/a Bear Claw Lending and Stone Lake Lending" among the LDF Tribal Corporations at §2.17, and the class at §2.30 covers loans from ANY of them between 24 July 2016 and 1 October 2023. But Stone Lake is not named in the class notice, which lists only 20 brands — so a Stone Lake borrower reading that notice would not find their lender and could reasonably conclude they were not covered. On the settlement text, they appear to be. Worth confirming with class counsel before assuming a balance is still owed.

Because Stone Lake Lending never published one that we could verify, and we do not print figures we cannot source. Comparison sites quote APRs for brands like this routinely; we went looking for where those numbers come from and could not find an origin for them.
What we can show you is the record: who the courts and regulators say is behind the brand, and whether any of it cancels your balance. If you hold an agreement from this lender, the TILA box inside it is the only rate that means anything — and it is worth keeping.
Frequently asked questions
Is Stone Lake Lending a tribal loan?
Yes. Stone Lake Lending is a tribal lending brand owned by the Lac du Flambeau Band in WI. That means it lends under tribal law and claims sovereign immunity from your state's interest-rate cap, rather than holding a state lending licence. It has never published an APR we could source, which is itself a warning sign. Whether the loan is enforceable where you live depends on your state.
Is a Stone Lake Lending loan legal in my state?
It depends entirely on your state. High-cost tribal loans are effectively banned in nine states, where a loan above the rate cap can be void and not legally collectible, and restricted in many more. Stone Lake Lending claims tribal sovereign immunity from those caps — an argument courts have accepted in some cases and rejected in others. Check your state before you borrow, and especially before you pay a collector.
How this site works
We are an independent registry — not a lender, not a broker and not a lead generator. This lender did not pay to appear here and cannot pay to change what the review says. We take no money from any lender and sell no applications.
Entries are built from the lender's own published disclosures, tribal corporate and lending-authority records, federal and state court filings, and CFPB, FTC and state regulator actions. Of the 143 brands in the full list of tribal lenders, 41 are confirmed lending, 74 sit on a watchlist pending verification, and 28 have shut down. Where a figure cannot be sourced we leave it blank rather than estimate it — which is why some entries are deliberately incomplete.
